Hotel Towel Care Instructions
Understanding Terry Towels
Terry towels, commonly used in spas, resorts, hotels, and luxury hotels, are made from 100% cotton. They come in two primary weave qualities:
- 10s Weave: Tighter weave that results in softer towels.
- 16s Weave: Looser weave that offers more durable towels.
These towels are available in various sizes to meet specific needs:
- Wash/Face Cloths
- Hand Towels
- Bath Towels
- Bath Sheets
- Bath Mats
General Care Instructions
Washing
- Pre-Wash: New terry towels should be pre-washed before first use to remove any manufacturing residues and to help set the color.
- Temperature: Wash towels in warm water (around 40°C or 104°F). This helps to keep them clean and soft without excessive wear.
- Detergent: Use a mild detergent. Avoid detergents with bleach or fabric softeners, as they can break down the cotton fibers and reduce the towel's absorbency.
- Load Size: Do not overload the washing machine. Towels need plenty of water to circulate and clean properly.
Drying
- Tumble Dry: Use the low heat setting for tumble drying. High heat can damage the cotton fibers over time.
- Line Dry: If possible, line-dry towels to preserve their integrity and conserve energy.
- Avoid Over-Drying: Remove towels from the dryer when they are slightly damp to prevent stiffness and reduce wear.
Maintaining Softness and Absorbency
- Avoid Fabric Softener: Fabric softeners can coat the fibers and reduce absorbency. Instead, use a quarter cup of white vinegar during the rinse cycle once a month to remove detergent build-up and maintain softness.
- Fluff and Shake: Fluff and shake towels before and after drying to keep the fibers loose and absorbent.
Stain Removal
- Immediate Treatment: Treat stains as soon as possible. Blot (do not rub) the stain with a clean, white cloth.
- Stain Remover: Apply a mild stain remover and let it sit for a few minutes before washing.
- Tough Stains: For tougher stains, you can soak the towel in a mixture of warm water and baking soda before washing.
Storage
- Cool, Dry Place: Store towels in a cool, dry place to prevent mildew.
- Proper Folding: Fold towels neatly to save space and prevent creases.
By following these care instructions, you can ensure that your hotel's terry towels remain soft, absorbent, and durable for a long time, providing guests with a luxurious experience.
